FIRST HOUR CARNAVAL DE NICE

The Carnaval de Nice opened to the public at 11.00am on 17 February 2024.
Here are just a few photographs and video clips of the first hour. By the time the daily cannon fired in Nice at noon it was time to turn to shopping.
In the first 20 minutes you could get around as they had to let the last trams in the central area pass through but then access became more difficult as multiple layers of security closed routes down, all understandable given the incidents that have happened here before. You can, of course, buy tickets to sit in the tribunes to watch the floats but that is for later.
