THE ANTWERP SIX Reviewed by ANDRE BEAUMONT This 2026 exhibition and retrospective of the work of The Antwerp Six in MoMu, Antwerp, made a great impression on me. I know the period in the design industries when they studied and emerged well. I know some of the locations, having familiarised myself with Antwerp over the past two decades. I even recall being handed an unexpected flyer outside Olympia that year, with unpronounceable names on it, but, not being in the fashion world, being a little disappointed it did not give me instructions on how to get in. Maybe it was one of them, maybe not. Sometimes I find everyone has met me once. To put together this exhibition with many delicate and historical artifacts must have taken an immense amount of work and I cannot even begin to tell their story better than it, in any review form, so I suggest you make a diversion to see it in the months that it will remain open. They are crucial figures to Antwerp history and Belgian culture now. I like the work of all of them but most of all I was drawn to that of Marina Yee, who died in December 2025, and, for whom, either her studio space or a room of hers was recreated in the exhibition.
